How to Secure Press-Ons on Flat Nail Beds
Fill the gap. Secure the press-on. That’s the hack.
Your press-ons cover your nails from sidewall to sidewall, but they still seem to lift away. Before you blame your application, check the curve.
A press-on can be the correct size and still have the wrong curve for your natural nail.
The fit goes beyond width
When a more curved press-on meets a flatter natural nail, extra space can remain underneath. That difference can make it harder to get even contact during application. Pressing harder won’t necessarily solve a mismatch in shape.
A flatter press-on is one option. For a small difference in curvature, a double-sided nail adhesive tab may help fill some of that space.
See how it works below:
How the sticky-tab technique works
Only combine nail glue and adhesive tabs if their product instructions allow it.
- Prep and check the fit. Start with clean, dry nails. Choose a press-on that covers your nail without touching the surrounding skin.
- Apply your nail glue. Keep it on the natural nail and away from your skin.
- Place the sticky tab. Position a properly sized tab over the wet glue, keeping it within the nail’s edges. Remove its protective film.
- Attach the press-on. Add a small amount of glue to the underside, apply, and hold according to your glue’s directions.
The tab acts as a cushion between the two surfaces. It may help with a small gap, but it won’t make every curve compatible or guarantee a watertight seal. If the press-on still rocks, springs upward, or feels uncomfortable, choose a flatter style.
Correct size. Compatible curve. Better fit.
Give the curve as much attention as the width. Explore the SBS 3 Second SUPER Brush-On Nail Glue and watch the tutorial to see this technique in action.
